Hike description

A moderate mountain hike starting from the Jitu de Escarandi pass and ascending toward Pico Samelar (2,227 m) and Pico San Carlos or Sagrado Corazón (2,393 m), two of the highest peaks in the eastern massif, the less visited.

The route combines well-marked trails with more open stretches over limestone terrain, set in a vast and solitary landscape typical of the Ándara massif. The views from both summits are spectacular, encompassing the entire central massif, the coast, and the mountains of Liébana.
